About

Emmanuel Benhamou has worked with grassroots civil rights activists in the Middle East for over a decade. He studied the region in graduate school at Georgetown's School of Foreign Service, and pursued policy work at the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Department of Defense. Yet when uprisings emerged across the Arab world, he decided his time and energies would better be spent outside of government, pursuing an independent project. In summer of 2012, Emmanuel Benhamou recruited a liberal Syrian dissident, Ammar Abdulhamid, and a fellow filmmaker, Larry Herskowitz, to travel to the region with him. Together they set out to give an activist's perspective on the tragedy unfolding in Syria.
