My name is Karina E. Cuevas and I am a native New Yorker. I have lived in NYC for most of my life, except I went to high school in the Dominican Republic. Went to undergrad at Penn State where I majored in journalism and french. Masters in Journalism at Columbia University in May 2014. I want to tell the kind of stories you don't hear in the news very often or at all. Stories like domestic violence in the Dominican Republic and how in six years there have been 1,336 gender relates homicides. Maybe I'm being overzealous, but I want to give a voice to those who are afraid to speak.
