Request QuoteBased between Halifax, Canada and New Delhi, India, we are directly in the heart of a growing surge of untapped talent and captive audiences. Our goal is to forge spaces that allow for the kind of shows where people walk away having witnessed something really special: in person, via our remote deployment live streaming infrastructure, or produced and edited for video content verticals. We've put on events in Himalayan palaces and decommissioned army bunkers in Shanghai. We curate showcases at trade fairs like SXSW, festival stages in Europe to 10,000 fans, and bespoke musical interventions all over Asia, Europe, and North America. Our video and film work has been commissioned and/produced by Google, Netflix, and Vice. Be it the characters, the technical deployment, the performance, or the places where these three elements interact, we want to allow for that magic balance to tip and spill into a collective memory.
In 1982, veteran Bollywood composer Charanjit Singh visits Singapore and gets his hands on the now holy trinity of a Roland 303, 808, and Jupiter 8 - the core of acid house and arguably the precursor to electronica as we know it today. The thing is, he does this four years before the clubs of Detroit, Chicago, and Manchester do.
MC Kash is a 22 year old rapper from Srinagar, Kashmir. Parveena Ahangar heads the Association for Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP), a support group for mothers who have lost loved ones over the course of the continuing Indian presence in Kashmir. This film is about the two of them meeting for the first time.
In January 2009, I managed to get the Black Lips to India to tour. If there was any band that would have the guts to come to India and be real, I figured it would be the Black Lips. I posted an invite on their blog in October 2007, and Jared wrote back soon after saying they were down. I went from there.

In intervals of 60 and 30 seconds for reaction and neutrality respectively, as signalled by a bell, Akanksha explored four NASO essence profiles. With no prior awareness of their contours, our goal was to forge a container to explore her instinct, her memory, and her own practice.

Within this unique space however lies a certain challenge: how to maintain curatorial control and a distinct vision when surrounded by an nascent industry that is more interested in capitalizing financially in the short term as opposed to doing something truly innovative, sustainable, and interesting in the long term? The artists we work with get this. None of us are hobbyists - we are all full time artists with no day jobs. This is what we do for a living. But while we need to make this pay, we all are committed to musical performances that leave an impact. This magic balance is what REProduce is all about.
