Her work centres around environment, food and health systems, agro-ecology and impact of climate change on communities, with a strong focus on gender. She has extensively documented sustainable livelihoods, food culture and crafts of indigenous communities of India. She has received fellowships in Science Journalism and one of her stories was shortlisted for the Sarojini Naidu Award for Best Reporting on Women and Panchayati Raj, and published in a book compilation by The Hunger Project. Her work has been published in Business Insider, Mongabay, South China Morning Post, The Indian Express, India Today, Times of India . As editor of international magazines such as Women's Health, she produced content from India for a global audience. She has been a comms consultant for international organisations such as Ford Foundation and Access Health International.
A story on women at the frontline of the war against Covid-19, leading the charge as community healthcare workers, doctors, nurses, scientists and waste-pickers managing hazardous waste generated during the pandemic. Through interviews and first hand accounts, the story shines light on how these workers navigated the uncertainties of the pandemic.
I produced a coffee table book for IIT Roorkee, one of India's premiere science and technology institute. The book covered 175 Years of IIT Roorkee's history, from 1847 to 2022. It was the first engineering institute in British Commonwealth and later Independent India's first engineering university. Through archival material dating back to East India Company to interviews with directors, faculty, staff and others, the book traces an interesting arc of Indian history and scientific progress.
Muga is a rare silk from Assam, a state located in the North East of India. It has a naturally lustrous gold sheen and costs over 10X the cost of other silks. Muga comes from the cocoons of wild muga silkworms, which are bred in gardens and forests with specific biodiversity. But climate change has meant the muga moth is in danger of disappearing. The documentary explores why muga is revered by the locals and what makes it so expensive and rare.
