Jen leads Communications with a focus on storytelling in service of Arnold Ventures’ mission, managing a team responsible for strategic and advocacy communications, digital communications and publications, media relations, brand management and content creation. 

Jen came to Arnold Ventures from Starbucks Coffee Company, where she was Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of Starbucks Stories. Prior to that, she was Vice President of Communications and Marketing at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, overseeing all of Fred Hutch’s external and internal communications, marketing, branding and government relations. Those roles came after a career as a journalist, most recently as Vice President/General Manager and Editor-in-Chief of NBC News Digital (formerly msnbc.com). She has held news executive positions at metropolitan newspapers including the Houston Chronicle, Seattle Post-Intelligencer and Rochester (N.Y.) Democrat and Chronicle. She is active in industry and non-profit organizations, currently serving on the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications and on the board of the Pacific Northwest Research Institute.

Jen has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Washington, a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and a master’s in business administration from the University of Washington.

BOB SULLIVAN is a veteran journalist and the author of five books, including  New York Times Best-Sellers, Gotcha Capitalism  and  Stop Getting Ripped Off!   He has won the Society of Professional Journalists Public Service Award, a Peabody award, and the Consumer Federation of America Betty Furness Consumer Media Service Award.  He spent nearly two decades working at MSNBC.com and NBC News, and he still appears on TODAY, NBC Nightly News, and CNBC.  He’s now a syndicated columnist and frequent TV guest. He is also co-host of the podcast / audio documentary “Breach“, which examines history’s biggest hacking stories, and co-host of the weekly podcast “So, Bob,” which tackles stories about the unintended consequences of technology.
