Sam is a team player most often taking on the role of DP - overseeing the image, look, and composition of the shots. His strong technical knowledge of cameras and lighting in addition to the production process as a whole, means he can focus his energy on the creative process, as the technical processes are second nature for Sam and his crews. For certain projects, Sam takes on the role of Producer, from documentaries to corporate videos to live streams and more.
As the Director of Photography, Sam created a look and style for the multiple camera units to follow in Costa Rica, Florida, and Honduras for this feature-length documentary telling the emotional story of sea turtles' struggle for survival and those humans risking their lives to save them.
This epic action-packed docu-thriller was shot aboard ships for over three months circumnavigating Antarctica. Very involved in the pre-production, Sam put together the camera and equipment packages, hired the crew, and created a style guide and production plan. While on board, Sam was the lead field producer and director of photography. He attributes a lot of the success of this film (and TV series) to the both the extensive pre-production and the great team work during production.
