His skills as a “preditor” (Dave produces, shoots, and edits, in addition to directing, when the project requires) have been recognized internationally. In 2012 Dave’s film, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, about how an Afghani family looking for freedom became “boat people,” won Best Documentary at the European Independent Film Festival. A short film he made about 80,000 displaced Somali refugees in Raaso, Ethiopia raised enough money to build a hospital outpost and employ 4 nurses in the area. Most recently, Dave produced and directed 20 pieces of content in 20 days for NBC as part of the Global Citizen Festival in New York City. Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Dave is a founder of NB Content. He lives in Brooklyn now, where he is raising his baby daughter.

At 23, Laurel was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a type of cancer, which shelved her budding triathlete career for nearly five years, as she endured chemotherapy and a grueling recovery. During that time, her biggest inspiration was witnessing Rebeccah bud into a triathlete herself.
When she was 9, Zainab’s parents made the heartbreaking decision to leave their home in northern Afghanistan. They set out on a journey across the globe, putting the fate of their family in the hands of strangers. Across borders, behind bars and onto a smuggler’s boat – the family chased freedom.
