I communicate to unsettle people's apathy. As a brazilian journalist, I am watching democracy being threatened and that's what drives me to bring human rights to the center of my attenttion. In uncertain times, I believe journalists can not be oblivious. I write about Culture and Society. During the pandemic, I went from drug-ridden neighborhoods in São Paulo, to the CBD beauty market, to African diaspora resistance groups, to James Merry thoughts about the role of masks. I have collaborations with ELLE Brasil, UOL (Ecoa), NOIZE, Monkeybuzz and Revista Balaclava. Personally, I enjoy listening to podcasts, descovering great records and screenwriting with friends. For me, people are the most powerfull ingredient of every good story.

Construindo a sobrevivência / Building survival
It was 150 days since the first case of Covid-19 in São Paulo. The city has 24.000 homeless people and if homelessness was a forgotten topic, Cracolândia, the neighborhood that has a concentration of poor, drug dependent and homeless people, wasn't even mentioned anymore. I decided to go there, talk to people, figure out what was provided for them during these months and what could be done. I am very proud of this sensitive and deep story, which gave me a mention in the 1º Prêmio Neusa Maria de Jornalismo, a journalism award for black journalists.

Pretas no comando / Black women in charge
54% of Brazil's population is black. How come beauty brands made by and for black people are not the biggest beauty brands in the country? This doubt pushed me foward to 8 interviews, data research and specialist opinions. I got in contact with fantastic black women who are defying racism in every step of their goal: to provide for black people make up and hair products that are made for them.

I had a delightfull conversation with James Merry, the creative director who works for almost a decade with Bjork. Among the extension of their collaboration, Merry is the one behind Bjork's iconic masks. With the Covid-19 pandemic, I called James to talk about the possible roles of a mask, our conversation transits between a profile and an experiment about what we are all experiencing in collective.
