Medical care is very poor in El Salvador and throughout Central America. Children with congenital heart defects cannot be helped because doctors and nursing staff are not trained to do so, there is a lack of technical equipment and many parents are too poor and have no insurance to finance operations and follow-up treatments. In order to survive, these children need help from other countries.
