Request QuoteI'm Tammy Danan and I'm a freelance storyteller. I'm a person of words but I can't help but take a deep-dive into video and photography. Currently based in Davao City, Philippines, I try to focus on stories of women, LGBTQ+ folks, indigenous people and refugees. I work with a humble team of four talented and highly creative brains, though sometimes, we're scattered with our separate projects. Past works include one for OZY where I interviewed a teacher terrorized for teaching indigenous people, Momentist where I chatted with various mobile photographers, VICE where I got in touch with three different organizations around the globe to know the state of human trafficking and modern slavery, OFF Assignment, GO Mag, and a few more.
For this, my photographer and I went to The Philippine Eagle Center, one of the last few places on earth where you can see the critically endangered Philippine Eagle up-close. We patiently waited for the eagle to calm down and be 'chill' with us being there before my photographer was able to take photos, while I was interviewing the keepers who help these eagles survive their day to day.
How did you become a journalist? W A seemingly simple question most of us don't even ask ourselves. For this OFF Assignment story, I wrote a letter to the person who inspired me to become a storyteller. And as the the story of this child unfolds, so does my journey to being the kind of storyteller I am today.

It is one thing to acknowledge that human trafficking still happens, it's another to actually know what we can do about it, and the do something about it. For this piece, I talked to three different organizations with one same goal - fight human trafficking - and laid out how complex human trafficking really is, and what we can do about it.
