Request a demoI am a freelance journalist/photographer/filmmaker interested in under-reported regions and untold stories. I mainly focus on political, social and cultural issues. A lot of the stories are related to human rights and conflict, but not all of them. Having worked in hostile environments such as Syria and Iraq, I am well aware of the difficulties and challenges. Features and documentaries are my preferred genres.I hold an international Masters in Journalism with a specialism in War and Conflict Reporting. The MA was a joint program offered by Aarhus University, the University of Amsterdam and Swansea University. I am moving around quite a bit. My colleague, Gayatri Parameswaran and I are journalists and co-founders at NowHere Media – a young, Berlin-based production house. In the past five years we have produced many stories for Al Jazeera English, DW, ZDF etc. At NowHere Media we have begun working with VR and 360 journalism. As Syria’s civil war continues, a group of Kurds in Northeastern Syria have formed the first fighting unit made up entirely of women. Rokan Abrahim, 21, is one of dozens of young, female Kurds who have enlisted to become combat soldiers, fighting alongside their male counterparts to protect Kurdish interests in a country torn apart by war.

Those sympathetic with the opposition have long accused the colectivos of shooting at protesters, while President Nicolas Maduro and his Chavista sympathizers say that it is the protestors, and not the government or the colectivos, that have caused the violence. Forty people have died since the protests began two months ago.
