More and more minor migrants approach the coasts of Italy to escape war and poverty. Italy is just a passing point to reach their families in northern Europe, but frequently minors remain trapped for months in temporary reception centers like "Scuole Verdi" in Augusta. They do not know the language, they have no money and they becomes easy prey for local and international crimes organizations.
After been rescued in the Mediterranean Sea, these 64 Nigerian women thought their perilous journey to a better future in Europe was over. They are now held in one of the biggest identification and expulsion center in Italy, the Ponte Galeria CIE in Rome. Locked behind bars with no freedom of movement, they applied for the refugees status.
