Request a demoI am a journalist and a filmmaker who recently graduated from the University of Colorado-Boulder with my Master's of Arts in Journalism. I have been creating short film documentaries largely focused on varying parts of the city of Denver; these include the Hip-Hop music scene as well as the larger music scene. In addition to the focus on music and community in Denver, I have also covered politics in Boulder and produced live coverage of the Colorado Democratic Party in Denver for Election Night 2016 for our journalism graduate blog. Lastly, I have run a Hip-Hop and pop culture blog for the past eight years, interviewing numerous local and national acts. Cypher Sessions is still going strong and has provided me with concert coverage and speaker coverage in both Denver and Boulder.
This project involved interviewing musicians, community members, and reporters who have been covering the Denver music scene for a number of years. There are a number of genres that are being excluded, and these musicians told us how they persevere despite the barriers to entry.
A celebration of musicians in the Denver area, as well as national acts that are there to support this particular organization.

During the filming of "Pushing Through" (shown in the video link below), I worked on weekly behind the scenes updates. These updated informed viewers of who I was speaking with and why.
I covered a concert featuring Los Mocochetes, a Denver-based Chicano funk band. The following is a summary of how the performance for Los Mocochetes unfolded as well as what their song's messages are.
