Documentary Filmmaker, Multimedia journalist, Photographer Aspiring Entrepreneur Syed Hasan Haider is a documentary filmmaker, photographer & Multimedia Journalist based out of Karachi. His work revolves around social issues, culture, religion, arts, business and technology. He earned a Master of Science degree from the Centre of Excellence in Journalism at IBA, Karachi in 2019. He has worked for various digital platforms including the BBC World Service, DW Urdu, CNA, Express Tribune, The Quint and Sujag Videos. After graduating from the National College of Arts in 2013, he joined Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy Films (SOC Films) in Karachi as an associate producer and sound engineer. He was part of the team for the Oscar winning documentary Short A Girl In the River: The Price of Forgiveness. During his time at SOC Films, Hasan has also worked on community engagement accompanying films. He took part in a school outreach tour for Pakistan’s first animated movie 3 Bahadur, during which he conducted workshops to inspire young kids to be change makers at schools in Karachi. Hasan has also worked as a mentor with The Citizens Foundation’s Rahbar program, to inspire young kids to think and act positively. Hasan believes that films and photography spread awareness and start the process of positive change by allowing audiences to recognize problems in society and work together to solve them. His work has been screened at Film Festivals around the world, including HOT DOCS Documentary Festival (Canada), Thailand International Film Destination Festival, and IBDA’A Awards (UAE).
