I am a Filmmaker/ Video Producer/ Video Journalist based in Bangladesh, lived and worked in UK and USA for a few brilliant years. Associated with broadcast journalism, international media and documentary film production, digital content creation, and other non-fiction in different roles for 15+ years. Alongside my independent film projects, I also work as a freelance Video Journalist for Arab Broadcast Services, and Video Producer for AFP Media Services (FACTSTORY Agency) since 2017. In Savar, Bangladesh Centre for Disability in Development CDD is working with over 500 carers, 92% of whom are female. They all care for a close relative (child or adult) who is severely disabled. The majority are of working age but over half of them are unable to work because they have nobody else to care for their loved one while they work. Over 90% of carers report that they worry about their financial situation. 87% of the carers report that they are depressed and 78% of them experience regular back pain. Much of this can be attributed to the mental and physical stresses of caring responsibilities. I worked as a director in this project. Client: Carers Worldwide.
What do urban community volunteers in Bangladesh do? They help respond to emergencies, such as earthquakes, fires or health crises. Despite his disability, Saddam has been involved in over 50 rescue operations so far. This is his story.
