I am intelligent in my writing, breaking down complex ideas in understandable ways and love to write lyrically where the opportunity presents itself since I am also a trained poet. I’m currently pursuing a masters in an environmental literature and looking for the long PhD run. I love discovering the story within any object or human because it can not just be a place of learning but of wonder and inspiration. I’ve also written for O, Miami, Miami’s premier art non profit that runs one of the biggest poetry festivals in the nation and have blogged for the American Welders Society.
Relax. The poetry heroes at O, Miami joined forces with The Spa at The Standard and prolific Miami artist-filmmaker Jillian Mayer to put our techno-stress to rest. CURRENT// gave us hammocks, soft faux golf grass, golden blossoms from Peltophorum trees, and most importantly, poetry embedded in a 16 minute guided underwater meditation at The Standard. Imagine a fashion show but for literary poetry! Poetry Press Week was a night of Poets putting there best verse forward and presenting it as a multimedia performance instead of something something just on a static page. Select editors from top literary magazines and an audience of people enjoyed poems being danced to or acted out or in video.
Not many 21st century youths dream of becoming blacksmiths, but Eric Brownstein did. Even less likely was his return to dreaming of metalwork after he received his Bachelor’s in Psychology from Wheaton College in 2009. However, Eric has never led a conventional life. In the spring of 2016, Eric also found himself completing a welding project to try and transport a tiger for the New Orleans zoo.
