Htoo Tay Zar is a photographer and documentary filmmaker based in Yangon, Myanmar (Burma). Tay Zar was one of the pioneer bloggers in Myanmar and followed his passion to become a full-time photographer in 2010. He has worked for local newspapers and European Pressphoto Agency, and some of his photography projects have been featured in International Herald Tribune, The Guardian and Bangkok Post. He is regularly working on assignments for UNODC, USAID and European Union. He is interested in social issues, political issues, human rights issues, and is currently working on personal projects. He has won two World Press Photo awards and W. Eugene Smith grant in humanistic photography.

Building a new life from the mud in Myanmar
After the cyclone Nargis devastated delta region of Burma in 2008, some of the survivor families from the area had decided to move other parts of the country as their paddy fields were destroyed by salty water. Some families moved to outskirts of capital Yangon and start making bricks to built up their life.
