Eating disorders on the rise in France amid Covid-19 pandemic
As some people cope with the anxiety and uncertainty generated by the Covid-19 pandemic by focusing on diet and exercise, eating disorders are on the rise. In France, the influx of cases is pushing already stretched resources to their limits. France's association for anorexia and bulimia, the Fédération Française Anorexie Boulimie (FFAB), describes the situation as "critical". Calls to its helpline were up 30 percent last year. Ellen Gainsford met with eating disorder sufferers and specialists to find out more.

Waving a rainbow flag, Desmond Napoles ambles through a confetti- soaked pride parade - in stern defiance of a troubling disinformation campaign that sought to link American LGBTQ people to pedophilia. Emerging from the darkest corners of the internet, an altered picture made it appear like a California pride parade participant had worn a shirt bearing Desmond's face alongside a disturbing slogan: "Trans kids are sexy." "They were using it to make LGBTQ people look like 'groomers,' and they were using my face," Napoles told AFP at a glittering New York pride event.

Report: African Asylum Seekers in NYC
NYC has a long history as a port of entry for immigrants, but over the past year the city has seen an unprecedented influx of migrants into its shelter system. Around 70,000 are currently being housed by the city. While the majority of new arrivals are from Latin America, a growing number of African asylum seekers are among their numbers. Many are choosing to travel to the US via Nicaragua, a route that has been popularised on social media. I’ve been speaking to some of the newest New Yorkers about their experiences.
