He believes photography to be an essential channel for audiences to learn with immediacy, and to subconsciously empathise with other people facing realities far away from their immediate surroundings and personal experiences. Alex strives to produce intimate, touching images that can sensitise viewers in positive, engaging and proactive ways, hoping to effectively become a catalyst towards a slow change in people's behaviour and in policy-making. Daniel fought during the Second Battle of Fallujah and was then moved to nearby Ramadi.

An entire generation is slowly being wiped out: those who survive will experience incurable, long-term deficiencies such as blindness, hearing impairment and brain damage.
After almost a decade of war in Iraq, local doctors in the Sunni town of Fallujah, Al Anbar Province, are dealing with a mysterious spike in deformities and other severe illnesses in children. Records at the town’s general hospital indicate that around 15 per cent of new-borns are currently presenting congenital defects.
