Serhiy Lysenko graduated from the filmmaking department of Karpenko-Karyi National University of Cinema, Theater and Television in Kyiv. He worked as a director and writer at FilmUA and Star Media. In 2012, in cooperation with Viktor Shcheglov, he founded the Generator Film studio in order to work on their own filmmaking projects.

Documentary filmmaker Serhiy Lysenko saw dozens of civilian graves in the yards of Irpen's apartment buildings. He visited the city on March 30, a few days after the liberation from the Russian occupiers, together with a military chaplain.
