I have also written for national publications, including The New York Times. In addition to writing about the financial and consumer markets, I’ve worked on a documentary and completed and distributed an independent film. I have also done some video and editing work for non-profits. Prior to becoming a journalist I was a business analyst for Dun & Bradstreet.

During my fellowship at Family ReEntry, I worked on highlighting the work performed by caseworkers. Family ReEntry works with offenders transition from prison to their communities. This organization also works with their families. I wanted to showcase their work so people could understand their goals and the problems they face in helping the entire family.

This story came as a result of a call from a concerned friend about a newsstand closing in her neighborhood and a 65-year-old man in danger of losing his stand over a glitch in New York City building department. This story got to the new major who ordered the building department to reopen the stand.
This is a film I worked on for several years along with documentary filmmaker Michael Patrick Kelly, founder of Aquapio Films. We followed Soulja and the Urban Casualties – all friends who met at a nursing home in Washington, D.C.
