About

Apochi Owoicho is a storyteller, photojournalist, filmmaker, and producer based in Abuja, Nigeria. He has worked on visual and communication projects across Nigeria, sub-Saharan Africa, and India, documenting socioeconomic, health, environmental, and development issues with dignity and respect. He is completing his MA in Media Ethics and Social Change at the University of Sussex and holds a certificate in Entrepreneurial Journalism from CUNY’s Newmark Graduate School of Journalism. He also earned a certificate in Public Narrative from Harvard Kennedy School, a diploma in Photojournalism from the New York Institute of Photography, and a certificate in Social Sector Management from Pan-Atlantic University. Apochi has attended workshops like the Canon Storytelling Course, VII Academy Foundry Photojournalism Workshop, and Foto Factory Lagos. He is a 2021 Acumen Fellow, 2016 LEAP Africa Fellow, and 2014 Kanthari Social Innovation Fellow. His work has been exhibited internationally.
