I'm part of the Meet & Greet pool at the BBC Paris bureau. This involves hosting guests who are being interviewed for TV and radio programmes like Newsnight and World Tonight. My role is to prepare the studio for live and prerecorded broadcasts, connect with traffic for transmission through London and make sure all technical aspects are in order so the guests are ready to go on air.
Together with the UK-correspondent for the Dutch public broadcaster, I produced stories for television, radio and online. This involved arranging interviews and finding case studies, such as the below story on an immigrant who successfully managed to set up a business in London, as an illustration of why Calais-migrants are desperate to reach UK.
Translated and transcribed the raw footage for this documentary from Spanish/French to English. This episode of Unreported World was shot in Cameroon where young footballers are being recruited under false pretences to become professional players at elite clubs in Europe.
Specialised in reporting on innovation in journalism, I covered international journalism conferences, interviewed editors-in-chief about the latest trends in their newsrooms and produced three chapters of WAN IFRA's annual "Trends in Newsrooms" magazine.
