For more than 20 years, thousands of Peruvian women have been seeking justice, alleging they were sterilized without consent in the 1990s under an aggressive population control campaign carried out by the government of former President Alberto Fujimori. But in October, criminal charges were filed against Fujimori and several of his former health ministers.
I worked as DOP, producer, and correspondent on this piece for PBS NewsHour. As the pandemic continues spiraling out of control in much of the U.S., the number of infections have declined in recent weeks in Scotland County, Missouri. But despite that good news, medical professionals there may not receive any doses of the coronavirus vaccine until the end of January, and they fear their community could soon have another surge.
Millions of Venezuelans have fled the country's economic and political crises in recent years, with an estimated 500,000 migrating to Peru in 2018 alone. Many have entered the country on work permits allowing them to stay for up to one year. But with the unending flow of Venezuelans, Peru stopped accepting work permit applications at the end of last year.

With a nod from the government, non-essential businesses and stores began to reopen in England today after a three month lockdown-induced slumber. But while many big retailers like Nike, Primark, and Zara are seeing long lines snaking around the corner, a number of small shop owners continue to face an uncertain future. I spoke to Mehmet Ahmet, 54, at his shop Outdoor Emporium in Camden.
With coronavirus cases continuing to fall across the UK, restaurants and pubs in England were allowed to reopen on Saturday -- although not all did, as restaurant owners worry coming back too quickly will lead to another rise in cases. I spoke to three restaurant owners -- Elizabeth Haigh of Mei Mei (Borough Market), Trevor Gulliver of St. JOHN (Farringdon), and Keshia Thomas-Jeffers of Caribe (Brixton) -- to understand the difficult decisions they have had to make since March, and whether they worry about the future of the restaurant industry in London.
