How open defecation, poor waste management triggered Ogun cholera outbreak
Ogun State is currently under the siege of a cholera outbreak that is sweeping through communities, leaving deaths in its trail. So far, about 12 deaths have been reported, while over 200 cases confirmed. SODIQ OJUROUNGBE visited the affected communities and writes on how open defecation and poor waste management carried out on the banks of Ogun River, which serves as the main water source for many, might have triggered the current cholera outbreak.
