Hikaru is a self-shooting Director/Editor based in London and Osaka working in broadcast, viral and independent documentaries as well as branded content, producing long and short format films for BBC, NHK, the Guardian, Tate gallery, and international brands such as Casio, Sony, Dove and Yamaha.
Currently producing and directing a feature length documentary 'Lawyers' about the first openly gay couple who started their own law firm in Japan. The film is supported by BBC and NHK (Japanese public broadcaster) and have won the Best Pitch award at the 2014 Tokyo Docs forum. Also initiated and co-directed an award winning film 'Love Hotel' (2014, UK/France/Japan) about a love hotel in Osaka for BBC4 Storyville/France 2, which premiered at Hot Docs International Film Festival 2014, receiving warm reception from both critics and audience.
