Request QuoteAfter 20 years in newsrooms along the East Coast—as a reporter, story editor, copy editor, designer, and homepage editor—Diana D'Abruzzo decided in September 2018 to focus full time on freelance work. She primarily copy edits and writes but is also a soup-to-nuts journalist with production experience who can take the whole project off your hands and write, design, and edit your organization’s published materials.

Exceptional, as always!
For this three-part series on prison reform, I interviewed a half dozen sources, including formerly incarcerated people, a corrections union leader, and a state corrections secretary. I selected photos for the three parts, wrote captions, and designed the package.
A year before the 2016 election, as stories and analyses piled up about who would win, I was curious if early front-runners in past presidential races had ultimately succeeded. I was homepage editor for POLITICO at the time, but when I had an idea for something catchy, I went for it. This photo essay was just one example of a fun story told in an alternative way.
The assignment: to write about how a tax deduction for conservation easements was being abused. Pretty wonky stuff. This is an example of how I am able to take a complicated subject and tell a story for the average reader.
