I am a filmmaker, journalist and photographer living and working in La Paz, Bolivia. I have been working throughout this country since 2008, and in January 2014 made it my permanent home. I work largely in marginalized communities, with a focus on rural issues. In the past, I was the Editor-In-Chief of Bolivian Express, a monthly magazine and Bolivia’s largest English language publication. I have worked all over the world as a videographer and filmmaker, sharing stories on a wide spectrum of topics, from the lives of refugee camp residents in Kenya to families caring for autistic children in Northern Ireland. In January 2016 I presented via video call to Storyhunter's first San Francisco ScreenUp event, discussing my work and presenting a video I produced and shot that remains AJ+ Español's most viral video, currently with more than 18m Facebook views.

On the shores of Lake Titicaca in Bolivia, farmers have harvested potatoes as a staple food source. Farmers here continue to preserving their tubers by making chuño, a process of freeze-drying potatoes for long-term storage that includes stomping on them barefoot and burying them over and over again. But this practice, and the potato crops themselves, are being threatened by climate change.

La Paz’s Mi Teleférico urban gondola system allows commuters to soar through the sky between La Paz and El Alto, an urban area of more than 2 million people. Opened in May 2014, the system was an engineering feat in and of itself, and this record-breaking, 10-kilometer system is greeting its second anniversary with plans for an additional 7 lines to add 20 kilometers to the system.

In Bolivia, indigenous Aymara women use their traditional weaving skills for the manufacturing of a medical device that is saving the lives of children with sever heart conditions. The piece was produced and shot in October 2016, and reached over 1.5 million views on Facebook within 24 hours.

US adventurer Phil Buck has come to La Paz, Bolivia to build a reed boat to take him across the Pacific Ocean from Chile to Australia. Using ancient techniques alongside traditional boat builders from Lake Titicaca, he has worked for months building the hull. Simple adventure aside, Phil hopes to prove that ancient civilizations where able to sail further across the globe than currently believed.

The tradition of ñatitas had long been underground in La Paz, but in recent years the visibility of this macabre practice has increased. I will share the homes and lives of women who carry out this tradition year round, and show them bringing the power of these skulls to believers in local cemeteries on November 8.
