As a young boy Daniel inherited his grandfather’s old Olympus 35 mm film still photo camera and he discovered his passion for creating images and filmmaking. He read the little booklet of instructions where he learned the basics of photography. From that time, the path of visual storytelling was set. After working with graphic design and Art Direction for some years Daniel decided to go into filming and reached back to his real roots in the visual world. He graduated from The Danish Short and Documentary Film School in 2012 and has since then been working actively with film, and multiple roles such as 1st AC and Gaffer but most years as DOP. With the original ambitions of being a film director Daniel found himself instead shooting more and more acting DOP. Daniel decided to work primarily as DOP but still make documentary work
A group of Somali super mums patrol the streets of Sweden’s infamous suburb Rinkeby to prevent crime and inspire a generation of youth. Across Europe, the far right is on the rise and it has some of the continent's most diverse communities in its crosshairs. To the far right, these neighbourhoods are no-go zones that challenge their notion of what it means to be European.
Ibrahim El-Hassan was born in Denmark, but is considered a "non-Western descendant". He grew up in Vollsmose, a suburb classified by authorities as a "hard ghetto". When the Danish government introduces its "ghetto package" of laws, El-Hassan decides to defend his neighbourhood. Armed with social media and a petition, he begins a summer of protests which eventually take him to the halls of Denmark’s Parliament.
"Unfading" is a documentary that explores the real-life story of a short film that was never completed and that was cursed.
I was hired by the VICE US team to secure additional footage in Denmark. I shot mainly the protest and followed Bwala Sørensen for a day.
