Ross was a real lifesaver on this one. We had a heck of a time nailing down the interview subject (her being at sea most of the time and us being across the ocean on the other side of the Atlantic). He took it on as a challenge and was extremely flexible and was able to grab the interview and broll once she finally surfaced. We really appreciate how hard he worked to make this happen and his professionalism. I am so glad it worked out we were able to work together!
Plant blindness is our tendency to overlook and undervalue the plants around us. Dr Margaret Bradshaw champions doing the opposite. If anyone can encourage us to overcome plant blindness, it's Margaret. A passionate botanist, Margaret has studied and campaigned for the protection of the rare flora of Teesdale, in England's County Durham, for over seven decades. And at 97, she has no plans of stopping. In this short film she urges us to take a closer look at what's beneath our feet and treasure the often unnoticed flora around us.
I researched and shot this independent project over a few years between 2017 and 2020, filming across the UK, USA and Canada. We are in the midst of a progressive separation of humans from the rest of the living world, an ‘extinction of experience’ in parallel with a mass extinction of species. The film reminds us that people - not melting ice caps or dead rainforests - are where this story really starts.

Emmanuel College at the University of Cambridge was undertaking the largest fundraising and development project it had seen for decades. The brief was to create a series of films that harness the essence of the institution - its history, community and impact - to support this campaign. I saw the project through from start to finish, storyboarding then shooting and editing, bringing in additional crew where needed.
