The United Nations says it's still trying to verify details of airstrikes over Ethiopia's northern region of Tigray, and is again calling for an end to hostilities. Ethiopia's National Defense Forces acknowledge carrying out the airstrikes, claiming it was targeting communication installations of the Tigray People's Liberation Front. Conflict between the government and the group erupted in November last year. The UN says over 7 million people have been affected.
Ethiopia is slowly introducing a new set of private taxi companies which a number of women are hoping to take advantage of. Phone and online services are opening up the market -- traditionally dominated by men. CGTN's Coletta Wanjohi met one woman in Addis Ababa, who has decided to get behind the wheel to make her own money.
An organization in Ethiopia is offering shelter to single mothers who are visually impaired. Many of these women are homeless.
