The Balkan Nights is a story about fatigue, uncertainty, hope of refugees and migrants making their way towards the countries of the European Union via Balkans and situation of the locals – their efforts to help intersected by their suspicion, discomfort and fear of insecurity as the war ravaged this same lands less than two decades ago.
“Give me liberty or give me death” project documents deadly immigration from post war Gaza with close up and personal written accounts of migrants and their family members left in behind in Gaza still awaiting official information or any news regarding the faith of their loved ones, who disappeared either in the desert in Egypt or Libya or in the Mediterranean while trying to flee to Europe.
Not far in the past, in a year 2013, there were 448 recorded suicides – many more than the year previous and years before. General services, industry and construction – the leading economic fields in Slovenia were severely hurt during Eurozone crisis in 2000, resulting in 558 recorded suicides. Yet the issue remains a taboo in society.
"Faces of War" presents the conflict too often reported by a mere numbers by documenting a juvenile and teenage rehabilitates from Gaza. It follows them through their process of rehabilitation in Slovenia and in their homes throughout Gaza Strip where they continued the course.
