Labour Union in Nigeria Protest over minimum wage

Labour Union protest to the entrance of the presidential villa to demand for a national minimum wage of 30,000 naira (82 dollars) monthly for workers. The workers were not allowed to move close to the villa by security operatives. The workers promised to shut down the economy from 6th of November if their demands are not met. Workers in Nigeria presently earn 18,000 (49 dollars) as minimum wage.

The Shiite Islamic Movement has been at loggerhead with the Nigeria Police for more than two years since the arrest and detention of the leader of the movement Sheik Zak zakay. The movement organises rally periodically to protest the continued holding of their leader despite court judgement that he should be freed. The protest takes place mostly on Fridays.
