Chicago, IL, USA

My name is Dan Tham and I am a senior in Medill at Northwestern University. I'm originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, and I have lived in Chicago, NYC, Berlin and Dharamsala, India. I'm interested in documentary storytelling about social issues and everyday people. In the fall of 2011, I traveled around the country in a van with a Northwestern professor, tracing the path of Mark Twain and interviewing more than a hundred Americans about contemporary identity issues, ranging from race and ethnicity to sexual orientation, immigration to socioeconomic status. I served as videographer for the project (Traveling with Twain in Search of America Identity). In the summer of 2012, I worked with the video team at Forbes Media, producing video content for the website, which included everything from markets analyses to panel discussions led by luminaries like Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and Oprah Winfrey. My favorite documentaries are "Baraka," "Fast, Cheap and Out of Control," "Time Indefinite" and "Jiro Dreams of Sushi."
