I wanted to be a conflict photographer in faraway places until I started covering conflict and violence in my own country. Since then my work has focused on stories about individuals and groups healing processes in the aftermath of violence, the importance of collective memory in the region and how journalism can act as a tool to counteract official narratives.
Up to 150 thousand people have access only to poisonous water in the Bajio region, Guanajuato. Children as young as 5 years old suffer from renal issues related to toxic water consumption. Meanwhile, small groups of people have dedicated the last couple of years to fight against poisonous water and the indifference of the authority.
Searchers in the land of the disappeared is a web documentary series about Mexican families and their plight to find their missing relatives in the context of the war on drugs. Chapter four is about María Herrera, the mother of four young men who went missing in two different episodes.
Radio Huaya, in the northern region of Veracruz, Mexico, it is a community radio that links up to 1000 remote indigenous communities in La Huasteca mountain range.
