Request QuoteBefore she was a nomadic cinematographer, Nausheen Dadabhoy was a California native who received her MFA in Cinematography from the American Film Institute. Since graduating Nausheen has lensed a variety of projects: her first documentary feature, Lunch earned first place at the Los Angeles Press Club Awards. While her first narrative feature Josh was at the forefront of Pakistan’s “New Wave” of cinema. Most recently she worked with with Oscar winning director Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy and Geeta Gandbhir on their film Journey of a Thousand Miles: Peacekeepers about an all female UN Peacekeeping unit, and with Emmy nominated Asad Faruqi on his film about the bomb disposal squad of Peshawar, Indispensable. She also directed a documentary entitled, The Ground Beneath Their Feet, which premiered last year at the IDFA in the First Appearance Competition. Nausheen is based in Los Angeles and Karachi, where she has broken boundaries to become the only female cinematographer in Pakistan.

They form one of the world’s first all female, predominantly Muslim peacekeeping units; shattering every stereotype the world holds about the capabilities of Muslim women. The film had its world premiere at TIFF.

The Ground Beneath Their Feet follows two Pakistani women who are paralyzed in an earthquake and are forced to redefine what it means to be a woman in the Muslim world. The film had its world premiere at IDFA in the First Appearance Competition and was nominated for an Oxfam Global Justice Award. It also played at Dok.fest Munich, the Document Human Rights Film Festival, and Atlanta Film Festival.

For the past 40 years a group of comedy writers and directors in Hollywood have been meeting for lunch every other week. Lunch is the story of what it means to be aging in Hollywood and the friendship that keeps them together. The film won the Los Angeles Press Club Award for best documentary in 2012 and played theatrically in Los Angeles and New York.
