With a well-established background in overseeing news production, coordinating field coverage, and managing bureau operations, I have a proven track record of editorial leadership. I’m also capable of navigating cross-cultural sensitivities with relative ease, having traveled extensively from infancy to adulthood and lived in four countries. In addition to my considerable experience in broadcast production and writing/editing, I'm also a skilled photographer and drone operator (and an aspiring videographer). In 2017, I had the good fortune of covering the solar eclipse in Asheville. This is a short piece I wrote at the time reflecting on the whole experience. It includes a few pictures I took of that magical moment. Also included is a brief preview piece that my team put together previewing the big event and all the excitement around it.
This is a photo essay I put together after returning from Gaza in 2014. I was there for the last three weeks of the war that year, leading the coverage for Al Jazeera English and the three reporting teams we had there. What is not shown in the link are the dozens of reports that I produced during our time there.
This was the culmination of a 2016 election special that I produced for Al Jazeera English. I lead a team that traveled along the Mississippi river to do four different stories focused on four different themes (all of which are included in the link). I wrote the article after returning home and provided a few photos from the trip that were selected for the piece by the digital editor.
A personal reflection on a truly kind man who devoted most of his life to combating the negative portrayal of Arabs and Muslims in film (and the last 'article' I wrote for Al Jazeera).
