I specialise in creating high production value screen content, and have worked on documentaries, commercials, online promos and music videos. Through various contracts for commercial and non-profit businesses and clients, I've traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East, Australia and South America on a variety of projects in the music, educational and manufacturing industries.
How does one sell something that doesn't exist? Software is a tricky one. I was commissioned to put together an appealing, entertaining promo for software used by large industrial 3D printing enterprises - potentially a very dry subject. The final piece, which I both directed and DP'd, makes clear the value of the product while staying entertaining and engaging.
Cairo Jazzman is a feature documentary filmed in Egypt, premiering at the prestigious Rotterdam Film Festival in 2017. It tells the story of one man creating, organising and launching a massive music festival amongst the turmoil of one of the biggest political upheavals in Egypt's history. Working as DP alongside my colleague Francesca Andrade, we shot simultaneously across the vast metropolis known as Cairo.
It's important to convey a sense of how a product or service can change your life, however small. The idea in this film, which I directed and DP'd, was to illustrate the benefits of automation, in particular automated software. We again aimed for a balance of entertainment and engagement while still making abundantly clear what exactly the product value and benefits are.
The new music video for German trip-hop geniuses Highlighter. After spending some time together on a concept and mood, we ultimately decided on a loose narrative, some locations and colours, then got to work. The result for both of us really matched the melancholy of the track, but also captured a sense of optimism we also sensed somewhere in there. Director/DP.
