Riani is a Documentary Producer and Director based in Indonesia. Growing up in foreign communities, Riani has always been interested in telling stories about identity and the idea of ‘home’. As a filmmaker, she has recently participated in IDFAcademy, Doc Toolbox by EFM Berlinale 2023, Docs by The Sea 2023 and 2022, IF/Then SEA Shorts by Tribeca 2020 and Yamagata Documentary Dojo 2021. Her Documentary short films in the past have played in over 50 film festivals around the world including Big Sky Documentary Film Festival and Palm Springs Short Film Festival and won awards locally in Festival Film Dokumenter with 'Best Short Film' 2022 and Minikino Film Week with Special Jury's mention. She co-founded Seven10 Media, a Documentary focused production house based in Indonesia dedicated to telling authentic human stories that helps to amplify Southeast Asian voices. The company’s work can be seen in Vice Media, EST Media, Apple TV, VOA 52 Documentary, Vision+ among others.

Healing is a Right
With my Production House Seven10 Media, we worked on a commission piece for VOA 52 Documentary about the issues of sexual violence and trafficking from the perspective of a young assistant aid to victims. In this project. we were involved from the research and development of the story, gaining access to subject, shooting and logistics all the way until post production.
