Geela (b. 1998) is a freelance visual journalist, writer, and peasant advocate based in Manila, Philippines.
Her photography, which explores stories on women, food sovereignty, the environment, and culture, aims to document and write history from the experience of its makers.
Her work can be seen on Bulatlat.com, Philstar.com, South China Morning Post, Inquirer.net, and China Dialogue. She earned an honorable mention for a degree in Communication Arts and a minor in Development Management in Ateneo de Manila University in 2019, where she also served as the Art and Photo Editor of Matanglawin Ateneo, the university's official Filipino publication.
In 2021, she received grants from Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and Earth Journalism Network to support her reporting on the food system, food producers, and the environment.
