My name is Samuel Munia, a Kenyan, trained and accredited journalist. I produce, film and edit news, features and documentaries. I’m currently working with Africa Uncensored as the Head of Filming where we produce In-depth and Investigative Television content for Kenya, Africa and the World. The productions have aired on KTN, NTV, NBS , Al Jazeera, BBC and TRT World.
I have won the Overall Journalist of the year award twice in 2017 and 2019 by the Media Council of Kenya, Trace Investigative reporting winner 2019, Global Investigative reporting 2019 and Best Documentary reporting at the Kalasha International Film Festival (1st runners up) in 2018.
I began my career at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation- Technical Newsroom/Electronic News Gathering before joining Kenya Television Network (KTN) where I executed most of the local and international features and documentaries for 8 years that won local and international recognition.
I hold Bachelors of Science in Communication and Journalism from Moi University and a Diploma in Film and Television Production from the Kenya Institute of Mass communication. I have passion for in-depth environmental stories as well as working on features and documentaries that impact positively in our society.
I have attended several Journalistic training programs such the first Global Investigative Journalism Conference in Africa held in Johannesburg South Africa, Conflict and Sensitive reporting, Onl ine security, Court and Crime reporting, International criminal justice and other transitional justice mechanisms by Wayamo foundation held in Germany and South Africa, Media and politics/media coverage on conflict by the Media council of Kenya, Hostile environment reporting by IREX and SECUREX, Film Sound master class by Dolby, Intellectual Property and Music Licencing for Film by Kenya Film Commission and Sheer Africa, Crime, conflict and Justice reporting by the Independent Medico Legal Unit to empower my skills in journalism.
