About

Shubhra Dixit is a lens based practitioner living and working between Kargil, Imphal, Lucknow, and Delhi. Her work is ethnographic, and informed by her training in cultural studies and documentary filmmaking, in addition to her work as a journalist. She has a masters in media and cultural studies from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and has worked in several Indian newsrooms including NDTV24X7, Scroll, and Firtspost. Her work has been published in The Caravan, The Hindu, The Quint, People's Archive of Rural India, among others. ​ Her project 'Girls, tomorrow and the earth' was nominated for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2023. Her work has been shown at the Angkor Photo Festival (Projections, Open Programme 2023)' at Khoj Studios in New Delhi, as part of the final showcase of the Maze Collective Studio Residency (Albumen printmaking, July 2022); Film Southasia, Kathmandu (2015 and 2019); the Mumbai International Film Festival (2015 and 2020), among others.
