Request QuoteTo help bring awareness to issues, we believe it begins with trust. This begins with our relationship with our subjects. As a team, we are creative storytellers, but we also strive to understand the essence of the story. Everyone on the team needs to be knowledgeable to the subject and able to adapt to situations that occur during documentary work. If we want to create something that can have an impact, our subjects need to have trust in us. They also need to be informed on exactly what and why we are asking them to share their stories. Our expertise is being able to capture the essence of a person. To get these storytellers to share themselves. To share their highs and lows in the utmost detail. To then be able to share that to communities where emotion is at the forefront. Imagery doesn’t need words to tell a story, images should be able to speak for themselves. An image should strike people at their hearts, and then their brains. A story of any magnitude should incite meaningful conversations and have people question their own lives and values. This is what we always aim to do with our projects.

As the lockdown orders went into effect last April, food shortages in working class homes became more prevalent. Urban Partners Los Angeles expanded their existing food bank to meet the needs of thousands of LA residents. Lines wrapped around several blocks, reminiscent of Great Depression Era food bank lines. In this piece, we hear directly from a UPLA organizer, and working class people who wait overnight, on a cold sidewalk in Koreatown, about what it means to just get by during a pandemic. Robert Fuller, a 24 year old Black man, was found hanging from a tree in front of City Hall in Palmdale, California last year during the height of the Black Lives Matter protests. Known as a Sundown Town, and it’s neighboring city Lancaster known as Klancaster, both for their history with white supremacist gangs, the community was left to reckon with deciding what to believe about Fuller’s death. During this moment in Palmdale, defamatory text screenshots surfaced (which were debunked), a rumor about the KKK showing up to a celebration of life for Robert (which was unfounded), and talk about another Black man found hanging 50 miles apart, 10 days prior to Robert, fueled the community’s worst fears about Robert. This is the story about Robert Fuller, a young Black man who died hanging from a tree next to the city’s flagpole and city hall, and how that reopened deep wounds for the community.
Dan Pearson grew up experiencing Ormond Beach in its pristine condition back in the 1950s. Being an area of global significance for bird migration, the ecosystem there has been adversely affected by toxic pollution, smog, noise pollution, and dumping. Ormond Beach continues to be an area that public officials have not been able to address effectively, given the multiple interests that are held in the area. Listen to Dan reflect on this piece of the California coast.
On April 27, 2020, LAPD Officer Frank Hernandez beat an unhoused Boyle Heights resident, Richard Castillo. Community members and family organized a rally at Boyle Heights’ LAPD Hollenbeck Station to call for the firing of Officer Hernandez. In this piece, we look at what a predominately Brown neighborhood, just outside of Downtown Los Angeles, and their relationship with the Los Angeles Police Department looks like. Update: Hernandez has been charged by the LA County DA and the next court date for the criminal trial is March 15, 2021. Case number BA487734 Check out this in-depth analysis about the beating: https://la.streetsblog.org/2020/06/23/how-beating-of-unhoused-boyle-heights-man-exposes-woeful-inadequacy-of-lapd-reform-proposals/
