Alexander has directed, shot, produced, and edited a wide variety of film projects ranging from commercial, music, and art videos that have reached millions online, to documentaries that have been featured in film festivals internationally and broadcast nationally. He has shot commercials for major brands such as Google, USAA, Jagermeister, and Georgia Power. He has also shot projects for HBO, CNN, VH1, Discovery, Fusion, NYtimes.com, Great Big Story, and CNBC, as well as created a number of fundraising videos that have raised tens of thousands of dollars for New Orleans youth programs.
While it is rare to claim propensity in both the director and DP roles, having directed (and edited) two award-winning, feature-length films, Alex has become fluent in every phase of production, developed a strong understanding of perspective, story structure and emotional rhythm, as well as learned how to effectively delegate and lead a team. But the merging of his background in visual art with an infatuation with cinematography has him most often finding himself on set as the director of photography. While having a love for directing, he feels most at home with a camera in his hands, composing frames, painting with light and color, and crafting a visual language to serve a story and a directors’ vision.
