This photo was taken in Ulsan, South Korea in January, 2012. The portrait is of a friend and was snapped as we were walking from my apartment down the road to a nearby bus stop. Growing up landlocked in the southeastern part of America, I'd never been so bone chillingly cold as I've been in the winters of South Korea.
In 2011, I served as the only foreigner working in a public middle school in rural South Korea. I wrote about the struggles and triumphs of connecting with a group of middle school Korean students.
Using social media outlets to share stories, this talk focused on my #RealLaosProject, a photography project urging viewers to see the beauty found in "real" Laos.
