Request QuoteMy name is Ross MacIntosh. I have 25 years of experience travelling the world and telling stories as a Director of Photography/EFP camera operator. As Director of Photography/EFP Camera Operator for Discovery Channel Canada’s award-winning flagship program, Daily Planet, I filmed thousands of segments across the globe in the most extreme conditions. From the high arctic to the desert, lava fields to inside a glacier, microgravity to hundreds of meters underground and everything in between. I have been behind the scenes at high security research labs, filmed at hundreds of universities and have worked with some of the planets brightest minds. At a moment’s notice, I needed to be ready to film high quality television in any circumstance and was often thrust into the unknown. I was always able to deliver. I was given unmatched access and experiences that have moulded me into the shooter I am today. Prior to Discovery Channel, I was Senior Camera Operator/Editor at CTV National News, and first to be called to cover major events from elections to natural disasters. Additionally, I regularly filmed W5, How It’s Made and Canada AM. There, I worked with many high-profile actors, athletes and musicians and as well gained experience in filming investigative and undercover work. My work has been featured across the world on Discovery’s international networks as well as on National Geographic, Smithsonian, CPAC, ABC, CBS, NBC, HGTV, YTV and Corus Entertainment. It has been recognized by many different professional organizations including the Canadian Screen Awards, New York Festival, Worldfest Houston and the Telly Awards. I have also worked on numerous award-winning specials such as Mars Landing 2012: The New Search For Life, Comet ISON: Hunt For A Supercomet, Landing On A Comet: Rosetta Mission, Daily Planet Goes To California, Daily Planet Goes to India, Daily Planet Goes to Japan and Daily Planet Goes To China. During my years as a Director of Photography/EFP Camera Operator, I have gained skills in field directing, lighting and sequencing. I excel at time management and thrive in high pressure environments. Being highly adaptable with a willingness to learn new technical skills and collaborate on dynamic and diverse projects has been integral to my work. I have been able to learn to operate new cameras and accessories easily in an ever evolving technical world. I am certain that my years of experience and the fact that I have filmed in almost every condition imaginable would make me a great asset for your production needs. I come equipped with both US and Canadian passports. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.

You might not notice anything strange when you first drive up to Bruce Beach’s property. But this is a very special place. Under two feet of concrete, Bruce has built a 10,000 square foot nuclear fallout shelter – the biggest in North America. If the apocalypse ever happens, the shelter which is fully equipped with a decontamination room, could protect 500 people.
This sizzle reel will give you a taste of the variety of content I have shot for Discovery - this is just a snippet of the hundreds of mini documentaries I have filmed, all over the world.
