I saw this story featuring an AI-powered influencer and DJ from pitch stage, through field production and onto an edit and article write for Business Evolved on CNN.com. The process helped me to gain further insight overseeing productions and implementing plans in the field before consolidating our material in the edit.
My digital video vignette with Irish AR startup Volograms was my first opportunity at CNN to self-produce video content, from pitching and research stage, to pre-interview, line production, scripting and editing. It would later set me up brilliantly to produce a similar series of 3 vignettes for CNN's Innovate Slovenia series.
My first assignment with 'On Assignment with Richard Engel' saw me launch straight into an in-depth open-source investigation of the Capitol Riot, an event which had shocked the world, and caught the press off-guard. Working with Bellingcat, we geolocated and verified hundreds of videos, piecing together a timeline of the riot accross multiple fronts on January 6th, using UGC, open-source data and fragmented footage to create one of the most comprehensive accounts of the insurrection to date.
My remotely-produced feature on Pipistrel for CNN's Innovate Slovenia series involved researching innovative technologies in Slovenia, before reaching out to the company and conducting ore-shoot calls, briefing our local team with a comprehensive shoot brief, before ingesting footage and handling post-production. This video features the Velis Electro aircraft, the first ever commercially approved electric aircraft.
I came on board with a new series focusing on the stories behind the world's most striking urban architecture -with the first episode set in Qatar. I pitched and researched angles and contrinutors for different sections of the half hour episode, setting up and conducting research calls with potential contributors, as well as handling media accreditation for our field team.
As a researcher on NBC's retrospective on America's longest war, I pored over hours of archive footage. mapped the battle for Afghanistan's many regions between coalition forces and the Taliban, and fact-checked mutiple drafts of working scripts. This was all before an overnight withdrawal by US troops, which plunged the country into chaos, and forced our team to act quickly, to tell the story as it unfolded, as America's longest military operation came to a crashing end
