Baquianos is a documentary short that focuses on a group of cattle-herders from central Chile. It follows them on a journey to retrieve cattle from the pastures where they graze during the summer. This short was the igniting spark for my first feature documentary of the same name which is currently in postproduction.
Short commissioned by Universidad del Norte's citizen science project Cientificos de la Basura (The Litter Scientists). The short looks into the plastic debris crisis affecting Easter Island, it's causes and the islander's efforts to find a solution.

When Francis Picco traveled to Easter Island for vacation in 1989, he fell in love—both with the woman who would become his wife and with the breathtaking landscape. Over time, he began to notice a troubling addition to the rocky shores: plastic waste, most of it from commercial fishing vessels. Determined to give back to the island that has given him so much, Picco spends hours each week picking up refuse by hand.
