Since moving to the US from the Philippines to pursue filmmaking, John Paul "JP" has created a variety of content for organizations like BBC World and Google, among many. JP is an MFA graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts. He won the DGA Best Asian-American Student Filmmaker Award for his short Pagpag (The Refuse), which was picked up by PBS. Smell A Memory, an advocacy piece on Alzheimer’s that he directed in Singapore, was shortlisted at Cannes Lions and won the Silver AdStar Award. In 2013, the Philippine Government named him one of the Outstanding Filipino Artists in Cinema. JP is an ABC/Disney Directing Program alumnus. He is currently an NBCUniversal Emerging Director finalist. His debut feature Toto won four awards in his native country -- including Special Jury Prize and Best Director. It recently won the Best Foreign Film and Best Actor Prize at the LA Comedy Festival.
