Request QuoteAfter studying photography and photojournalism, Carini worked as photo editor for NOOR Images in Amsterdam. In 2012, together with an international community of authors, he founded the PanAut Collective, a platform for dialogue, exploration and production around the visual narrative. In May 2014 he moved to Iraq where he lead Metrography, the first Iraqi photo agency until October 2015. With the photographers of the agency he has initiated, managed and curated Map of Displacement (http://www.mapofdisplacement.com) an interactive project that tells the stories of displaced Iraqis in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. In his own photographic practice he works solely on long-term, multidisciplinary projects where he tries to stretch the borders of documentary photography through tight collaborations with the subjects and the use of a multitude of different mediums. Carini has trained photographers and visual storytellers in Europe and Iraq, given lectures at different institutions across the world (including DOX in Prague, ICP, Parsons and Columbia University in New York), and curated both solo and group exhibitions. Carini’s main objective is to be part of, inspire and push forward a cultural revolution in the ways and forms we produce, consume and process images and visual documents. He recently co-founded DARST, a nomadic art studio for research and production of documentary projects. He now lives and works in Sicily.
